No emergency

If your medical condition is not imminently life-threatening, the operator will ask you for your name, your address, your date of birth and your phone number. The operator also wants to know the number of your Insurance policy and your social security number. Keep this information available when you call us. The operator will draw up a short description of your medical complaint. After that, the operator will end the call. You will be called back as soon as possible – definitely within 30 minutes – by an assistant of the GP who is on call at the medical station nearest to you.

If you (or the person on behalf of whom you are calling) uses medication, please keep the packaging of the medicine(s) at hand. This will make it easier for you to give answers to some of the the assistant’s questions.

When the GP’s assistant calls you back, she will ask you about your medical complaint. We may be able to help in several ways:

  • The assistant will give advice (every advice given by an assistant is checked by a GP);
  • You are called back by a GP who will advise you;
  • You will be invited to come to the medical station nearest to you. If this station is closed, you will be invited to come to the Groningen station;
  • The assistant believes that a house call is necessary, and will arrange such a call by the GP.
