During the week, Doktersdienst Groningen is available outside regular office hours: between 17.00 hrs and 08.00 hrs. During the weekends and during national holidays, you can contact us 24 hours a day. Our operational area spans the entire Province of Groningen in the Netherlands as well as the northern part of the Province of Drenthe.

We try to answer every phone call within 30 seconds. The operator will ask you questions about the medical condition of the patient.
In case of an imminent and life-threatening emergency, Doktersdienst Groningen will make sure that an ambulance will be on its way to you immediately. The operator will ask you for your name, the address and your phone number. This it to ensure that we know where to reach you.

If your medical condition is not imminently life-threatening, the operator will ask you for your name, your address, your date of birth and your phone number. The operator also wants to know the number of your Insurance policy and your social security number. Keep this information available when you call us. The operator will draw up a short description of your medical complaint. After that, the operator will end the call. You will be called back as soon as possible – definitely within 30 minutes – by an assistant of the GP who is on call at the medical station nearest to you.
If you (or the person on behalf of whom you are calling) uses medication, please keep the packaging of the medicine(s) at hand. This will make it easier for you to give answers to some of the the assistant’s questions.
